Entry requirements

This education is exclusively offered as a commissioned education and will be regulated by an agreement between the Faculty of Odontology and the employer/sponsor of the candidate. Malmö University does not offer a grant or scholarship for programme participation. 

Admission process 

The number of available spots in the programme is limited. There is no guarantee that the faculty will announce positions in all subareas at each announcement. All paperwork concerning validation of credentials and the application procedure is managed with assistance from our partner, Swedish HealthCare Academy, who have long-standing experience in arranging for the entry of international candidates to major universities in Sweden. 

Professional requirements

Degree in Dentistry with a minimum of two years documented clinical experience after graduation, at the time of application.

Language requirements

Malmö University requires English proficiency equivalent to secondary school for all programmes and courses taught in English. Non-EU candidates must demonstrate their English skills through an internationally recognised English test. Accepted tests are IELTS Academic and TOEFL.

Required test scores:

  • IELTS: an academic test with an overall mark of 6.5 and no module under 5.5
  • TOEFL (Paper-based): total score of at least 575. The written test must be at least 4.5 (scale 1-6)
  • TOEFL (Internet-based): total score of at least 90. The written test must be at least 20 (scale 0-30)


Malmö University will only review your supporting documents for eligibility once your application has been received. We do not make individual eligibility assessments via email.

University credentials, diplomas, and transcripts should always be official and certified (true copies). Enclose authorised translations if diplomas and transcripts are in a language other than English or the Nordic languages.

Based on nominations from the employer/sponsor, prospective students will be interviewed by a committee of faculty members from the department responsible.

Annual Fee

The annual fee is 675 000 SEK (2021). 

The fee covers the cost of all education, examination, theory classes, and clinical supervision, as well as all costs related to the clinical training at the University Clinic. This includes working clothes, clinical materials & equipment, office space, insurance costs, and administrative support.
