Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

This programme is a full-time, two-year international master's programme with training in Oral and Maxillofacial radiology. The programme is offered to dentists with a minimum of two years clinical experience after graduation, who seek to improve their competence in research as well as theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in oral and maxillofacial radiology.

Upon successful completion of the international master's programme in Oral and Maxillofacial radiology, which includes a research project and the defence of a thesis, students will be awarded a Master's Degree in Dental Science (MDSc). Clinically, programme participants will be able to assess and evaluate radiographs in line with oral and maxillofacial radiology. They will develop theoretical knowledge and clinical competence necessary for replying to referrals dealing with simple to moderate issues.

Students evaluate radiographs of different patient modalities referred to the department, under the close guidance of an experienced faculty comprised of senior specialists in the field of oral and maxillofacial radiology.

Course components

After an introductory course in comprehensive dentistry involving all aspects of odontology, a variety of lectures, seminars, self-directed learning and clinical sessions as well as independent thesis work are incorporated into the programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Areas of focus include an overview of different radiological cases, both in theory and those referred to the department for investigation. Students are exposed to complex and interesting cases in a forum designed to enhance their ability to interact successfully with professionals.
