Materials Science and Technology

This programme is a full-time, two-year international master's programme in Materials Science and Technology. The programme is offered to dentists with a minimum of two years clinical experience after graduation, who seek to improve their competence in research as well as theoretical knowledge and skills in the subject. 


Upon successful completion of the international master's programme in Materials Science and Technology, which includes a research project and a thesis to be defended, students will be awarded a Master's Degree in Dental Science (MDSc). In the research laboratory and clinic, programme participants will be able to be part of at research team that tests and evaluates new equipment and treatment methods, parallel to on-going clinical activity in advanced prosthetic and reconstructive dentistry. They will develop theoretical knowledge and practical competence to work with a wide variety of tasks in the field of materials science and technology.


Students will study under close guidance of a diverse and experienced faculty comprised of top researchers and clinicians in the field of prosthetic dentistry and materials science.

Course components

After an introductory course in comprehensive dentistry involving all aspects of odontology, a variety of lectures, seminars, self-directed learning and clinical sessions as well as independent thesis work are incorporated into the programme.

Areas of focus include an overview of dental materials in theory and practice, as well as research methodology in this field. Principles, issues and diverse subjects are explored and applied to research. Students are exposed to complex and interesting cases, in a forum designed to enhance their ability to interact successfully with professionals.
