Additional training for dentists with degrees from countries outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland

Through an amendment on 30 June 2016, Malmö University received a mandate to plan and design complementary training for dentists with foreign degrees. We are delighted to have been chosen to initiate this process. We have now started planning to form and launch the programme, but the starting date for the first round of training has not yet been decided.

Please check this website regularly for updates.

The programme is for students who, after completing the training, shall demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the dental profession in Sweden, and be able to apply for a license to practice dentistry from The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).

Admission requirements:

  • dental degree from outside the EU / EEA / Switzerland, and a issued decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) for further investigation in the form of a proficiency test for dentists;
  • completion of at least four years of dental school, and at least one year of documented clinical experience; and
  • Swedish B or Swedish 3 with the lowest grade E.

The training runs over the course of one year (60 credits / ECTS) and comprises full time study. Our hope is to offer 10 training places annually.
