Sport Sciences

At the Department of Sport Science, different aspects of sport are studied from a broad perspective. Sport is a multidimensional social and cultural phenomenon, which is why sport science combines multidisciplinary and theoretical knowledge with practical understanding.

Students can study sport science and specialise in either Sport Management, Physical Activity and Health, or study to become physical education teachers in primary and secondary schools. At master’s level, we offer an international one-year, and a two-year, master’s programme:

Sport Sciences: Sport in Society, Master’s Programme (One-Year)

Sport Sciences: Sport in Society, Master’s Programme (Two-Year)

We also offer a wide range of single subject courses.

'Sport in Transition' is one of the strategic research profiles at Malmö University. There is also a research body within the department where PhD students pursue studies such as: children’s rights in sports; sport and events; didactics; sport management; and sports psychology, among others.

The department also carries out research in cooperation with authorities such as The Swedish Sports Confederation, Skåne Regional Council and The Board of Culture for the City of Malmö.
