Career Mentoring Programme

About the programme

In the Career Mentoring Programme, Swedish and international students attending a two-year English-taught master's programme, are able to apply for a personal mentor from private and public companies, and NGOs.

How can your mentor help you?

Your mentor will be a source of information, someone who will challenge and motivate you towards achieving your goals, give you advice, support and encourage you when needed.

The face-to-face meetings with your mentor help you to prepare for the transition from your studies to a life as a professional. They also help clarify career ambitions and give you an opportunity to explore various career possibilities, and building relationships and networks for developing your future career. As the mentee you are expected to lead the relationship forward, driving the process.

This programme is intended for both for master students who already know what their dream job is and for students who are in doubt about their career possibilities. As an international student, the meetings are also a unique chance to learn more about the job market in Sweden.

  • The programme starts in October and ends in May.
  • During this period, mentors and mentees are expected to meet eight times, one hour per meeting.
  • In addition, some workshops/structured mentoring events will be organised.
  • Towards the end of the programme, a Mentor Survey will be conducted, involving both mentors and mentees.
  • It is expected that both mentors and mentees participate in all the activities that are part of the programme.

How to apply

To complete your application you must fill out a mentee application form (application opens March 1 and closes March 31).

You will write an application of about one page where you describe your motivation to participate in the mentoring program and what you hope to gain from your mentor experience. You upload the written application together with your CV, photo and a LADOK transcript showing the credits you have obtained at Malmö University so far.

Mentee-mentor pairs will be selected based on the information that is provided on the applications. The matching process is done in collaboration with the mentor companies and organisations.
