Off Campus Access

  1. Always use the library's links to e-resources (e-journals, e-books, databases).
  2. Log on with your Malmö University computer ID.

How do I access e-resources off campus?

  • Access is provided via the library's proxy server which authenticates you as a user from Malmö University.
  • You must be registered as an active student in Ladok or as staff be registered in Primula to get access to the proxy server.

Linking via proxy server

A link via the proxy server starts with with the full resource link directly after eg:

If you want to make a link that will work for access outside of campus, add at the beginning of your link.

Proxy bookmarklet

If you are outside Malmö University network and for example google an article you will not be recognized as a Malmö University user. But you can try reloading the web page via the library’s proxy server using the bookmarklet.

  1. Save the proxy bookmarklet as a favourite in your browser. 
  2. Locate the article, e-book, or database you need, click on the bookmarklet. 
  3. The page is reloaded and you can login and check for the full-text.   

The most common problems

Who do I contact if I need help with access or password problems?

Students must be registered in Ladok as current students and staff must be registered in Primula. Contact your course or staff administrator for help. If you see an error message when you try to log in, contact IT Support.

Can I access databases off-campus even after I've left Malmö University?

 No, once you are not registered as a student you no longer have off-campus access.

Proxy errors

You won't normally be able to log in via another proxy server. If your ISP uses a proxy server, this can usually be turned off - contact your ISP for details. Check if you have a proxy server active on your local computer in Internet Explorer: Tools - Internet Options - Connections - Lan Settings. Make sure the option to use a proxy server is unchecked.
