Regulations for Interlibrary Loans

Hand som håller bokWhat is an Interlibrary Loan?

If the material that you require is not held at any of Malmo University Libraries it is possible to borrow from other libraries both in and outside of Sweden. The material must have relevance to the courses and research at Malmo University.

There is no guarantee that all orders can be filled as each library has their own restrictions concerning Interlibrary Loans. Certain material cannot be inter loaned, such as reference books, course books and journals (however, copies of journal articles can be requested).Fiction will only be ordered if it will be used for research purposes.

Who may request Interlibrary Loans?

Students or staff at Malmo University may request Interlibrary Loans.

What does it cost?

Loans from libraries within Scandinavia: Free

Loans from libraries outside Scandinavia: 150:- per loan (not for staff).

In case of a loan outside Scandinavia, you will be contacted for confirmation before we proceed with the loan.

How long does it take?

If the book is available at the lending library, the interlibrary loan will take about one week to arrive. If the book is checked out to another patron, if possible we will place a hold for you.

Do not hesitate to ask if there is any delay.

What are the borrowing regulations for Interlibrary Loans?

The loan period is determined by the lending library, however, with a maximum loan period of 6 months. If you do not return the book you will be charged the same overdue fee that Malmo University Library is required to pay to the lending library.

Occasionally the interlibrary loan must be used only in the library.
