Malmö University alumnus advances in poster contest i Jeddah

Wait a second, Manaf Alhibshi. You further solidified Malmö University as a strong reference point on the global map of dentistry. Information has reached Malmö about your appearance at a conference in Jeddah.

You became the runner-up in a poster-presentation contest. What conference was it and what was the theme?
The conference was the 4th annual conference of the Saudi Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The main theme of 2017 edition of the conference was Facial Beauty and Rejuvenation. Featured guest speaker was Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, former president of the American Board and society of cosmetic surgery.

Manaf Alhibshi, M.DScCan you tell us a little about the attendance?
The attendance included a majority of oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, cosmetic and craniofacial surgery specialists and residents from different countries in the Middle East, Europe and North America.

What did your presentation cover?
It covered the determination of blood loss in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. My research was conducted at Malmö University and supervised by Dr. Jonas Becktor, head of the oral and maxillofacial surgery department. It was funded by Region Skåne.

How has your presence at the conference influenced your work/network?
It gave me the privilege to get in contact with various colleges from different countries and discuss cases and research projects. I was astonished by the feedback my project generated. Many surgeons have given positive response in particular to the principle 1 of my study as it potentially could be a milestone in the management of blood loss during surgical operations regardless of the specialty.

What is the current focus of your work/research?
Currently I am working on a litterateur review and different case reports in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
