Erasmus+ Traineeship Scholarship

Take advantage of this opportunity to get a scholarship to do an internship in Europe.

There are three ways to do an internship and apply for this scholarship:

  1. As part of an internship course at Malmö University, where you spend your internship at a company or an organization in Europe. You are examined at Malmö University and as such the internship is credit-bearing.

  2. Outside of your regular study programme at Malmö University. Your internship will be registered as a note in your Diploma Supplement, but you will not get the internship accredited as credit points. The internship takes place during your studies, while you are registered on your program (for example between semesters). You may also apply for the scholarship to do an internship once your study program has finished. You must then apply for the scholarship whilst you are still an active, registered student and you have to do the internship in direct connection to your final semester. You cannot apply for your degree before the internship is over.

  3. In the context of a thesis. You are registered for thesis studies in Ladok and examined in Malmo but conduct data collection at a company or organization in Europe. Your supervisor at Malmö University must approve the placement / data collection. Please note that you cannot apply for this scholarship to do research at a university: that is Erasmus+ exchange studies.

You have to find a suitable internship before applying for the scholarship. You can contact a company or organisation in which you are interested. Large companies and organizations often advertise "Internships / Traineeships / Student Projects" on their websites. Our faculties / departments / schools may also have contacts through research collaborations, networking and exchange agreements.

The scholarship

The scholarship is intended to cover additional costs during the mobility period: it is not meant to represent comprehensive financing. You are expected to work full-time during the internship. The minimum period for an internship is two full months and the maximum period for an Erasmus+ Traineeship Scholarship is 6 months, even if the internship lasts longer than that. The scholarship amount varies from year to year. The scholarship is calculated based on a daily rate which is the same for all students going from Swedish universities. In the first instalment, which is paid at the beginning of your internship, you will receive 70% of the scholarship. Once you have completed your internship, you must submit a ‘Trainee Certificate’ to confirm the internship dates, and write an internship report. Then you get the remaining 30% of the scholarship.
