Joint Workshop on Methodology in Migration Studies Call for papers - MIM welcomes application proposals on migration studies of PhD students at Malmö University from all faculties!  Deadline for providing application is December 1th. Workshop will take place in Barcelona, 3rd – 4th February 2016.

Brigitte Suter, senior researcher at MIM, was interviewed for article “Höstens kriser fick debatten om flyktingar tvärvända” on the impact of the Paris terrorist attack on Sweden's refugee politics in Dagens Nyheter.

Brigitte, senior researcher at MIM, was invited panellist of a debate at Lund University ('Debatt i Lund') arranged by Lund University on the topic "The Challenge of Migration - Will It Make Us or Break Us"? 

The website Theme Refugee (in Swedish) gathers the latest research and activities at Malmö University on the highly relevant topic of Refugee settlement on the fall 2015.

Vacancy: The Research Fellow position is placed at the Faculty of Culture and Society, Department of Global Political Studies and managed by the Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare (MIM). The successful applicant will be required to combine research work (80 per cent) with MIM administrative/teaching duties in connection with the visiting professorship.
Last date for application 10 October, 2015.

MIM Masters Essay Award: We are glad to announce that we have received six nominations for the MIM Masters Essay award competition. These are written by: Christina Grimstrup Krüger, Isabelle Johansson, Felicity Atieno Okoth, Anne-Maria Ikonen, Sofia Wachtmeister and Caroline Tomsfelt. The winner will be announced at the first AMIS/MIM Masters Conference on Migration Studies on December 10. The jury consists of: Erica Righard, Senior Lecturer at the School of Social work andAnders Hellström, Associate Professor in Political Science.

MIM, Malmö University, is a partner in the consortium that was granted money from the EU Framework Programme for Reserach and Innovation Horizon 2020 call on youth mobility in EU. The project YMOBILITY is lead by Sapienza University in Rome and includes 9 additional partners, including Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare. 

Research funding for Brigitte Suter's research project “Arbetskraftsinvandring till Kina: En etnografisk studie om högutbildade migranters integration, transnationalitet och nationell identitet i Shanghai” at MIM is one of the two projects at Malmö University that Forte will fund. Congratulations!

Scholarship for Karin Magnusson, research assistant at MIM, received Sparbanksstiftelsen Skåne's scholarship for her master thesis 'Integration of the Employed: The Sociocultural integration of Highly Educated Migrants in Sweden.' It was written as part of IMER's two year master's program.
