The education and research activities in the Faculty of Health and Society aim at contributing to the knowledge base in order to preserve, support and promote people’s physical, psychological, and social health. We educate nurses, social workers, public health scientists and biomedical scientists. At our faculty you can also study to a bachelor´s degree in Biomedical Technology or Handicap- and Rehabilitation Science. We offer a Mental Health Education too.

The Social Work programme has different specializations, all with a multicultural profile.

The results of the quality evaluations performed by the National Agency for Higher Education have been very positive to the educational programmes at the Faculty of Health and Society. Thus the programmes have among the highest number of applicants in Sweden. Students at the Faculty of Health and Society will have the most modern equipment available in lecture halls and laboratories in a beautiful new building within the area of Malmö University Hospital, near the Wallenberg Laboratory, the Diagnostic Centre and the Clinical Research Centre.

The faculty has cooperation agreements concerning student and teacher exchange with partner universities in other countries in Europe, Australia and the United States. 

Research
At the Faculty of Health and Society research is being done in Biomedical Laboratory Science/- Technology, Nursing and Social Work. The research has a multidisciplinary approach and involves collaboration with other disciplines and other faculties or schools at Malmö University. The research in Biomedical Laboratory Science is carried out within the Malmö University research programme Biofilms and Biological Interfaces. The disciplinary research in Nursing pursues studies within Psychiatric Nursing, The Health of the Elderly, Reproductive Health, Leadership and Quality of Nursing. The research in Social Work focuses on Gender, Sexuality and Social Work, Social Care, Crime, Drug abuse, Children, youths and families, Aging and the condition of life of the Elderly and Human Service Organisations within a multicultural society. The Faculty of Health and Society cooperates with The School of International Migration and Ethnic Relations in the research programme Migration, health and social welfare.
The faculty offers doctoral studies in Caring/Nursing Science, Biomedical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Technology, Health and Society and Social Work.
