The background to the police warning are the recent shootings which have happened in Malmö. This year, 15 people have been attacked, and all of the victims have a foreign background.
All of the shootings, which have no motive, have taken place at night in different parts of Malmö.

Single or few suspects
After the two most recent incidents, which took place by bus stops in Eriksfältsgatan and Lönngatan, the police are now working on the theory that it is either a single, or only a few, suspects that are responsible.
– The situation is serious.
– It is therefore important to be observant and try to avoid dark places when you are out at night time.  People should also try to make sure that they are aware of their surroundings and have no one behind them when they are waiting, for example, at a bus stop, says Anders Lindell, from the Police Information office in Malmö.

50 police intensively working
According to the Swedish media the police now have established a special force of over 50 police who are now intensively working to arrest the suspect, or, suspects.
– We are going to increase the police presence in those areas where, according to our experts, there is the greatest risk that there can be new shootings. This involves both uniformed and plain clothed police, the region’s operational chief Börje Sjöholm has said to the media.
