Research publications

Malmö University Electronic Publishing (MUEP) is Malmö University's open access repository for scholarly output by faculty staff and students. It is also the open archive for publications series published by Malmö University.

MUEP has been the institutional repository at Malmö University since 2003. From publication year 2007 onwards, MUEP also forms the basis for local research assessment and aims at having full coverage of what is published. Approximately 20% of the research publications are freely accessible (Oct 2010).

For several years Malmö University has been providing access to and promoting our researchers’ publications. As early as 2003, a recommendation was made by the vice-chancellor to support open access publishing of articles, dissertations and local publication series.

In November 2010 a new open access policy was adopted, strengthening the previous policy:

1. Research staff and postgraduate students at Malmö University must deposit a copy of their research publications in the university's open archive Malmö University Electronic Publishing (MUEP), unless copyright prevents this.
2. Malmö University staff and graduate students are encouraged to publish their results in open access journals.
3. All contents in the university's publication series must, unless there are special circumstances, also be deposited in MUEP.
