Nominate your teacher to Teaching Award

Utdelning av Pedagogisk utmärkelse 2016

The Education Advisory Committee, together with Student Union Malmö and the Students’ union at the Faculty of Odontology, is inviting students and staff to nominate candidates for the university’s Teaching Award, for exceptional educational contributions through teaching.

Students at Malmö University are eligible to nominate candidates. You may choose to nominate an individual teacher or a group of teachers working together on a course/programme.

How will the nominations be assessed?

The award will be given to the candidate who fulfils the criteria of encouraging and supporting student learning, enabling students to attain the relevant learning outcomes, and who promotes a learning environment where particular emphasis is placed on having a good approach to and being inclusive of students. In your own words, describe why you think the candidate meets the criteria above, and thereby deserves the award.

Most important, the nomination is to show the candidate’s teaching strengths. Describe, for example, situations when the candidate has helped you truly learn something. You may also describe the candidate’s approach to e.g. the planning and implementation of teaching, or how you, as a student, were made involved in the planning.

Keep in mind that the justifications must be sufficiently long as to allow us to make an assessment, approx. 300–500 words.

The vice-chancellor will decide on a winner among the received nominees.

Since 2001, Malmö University’s teaching award has been a recurring feature at the university’s major academic event – the Annual ceremony – which this year will take place on 20 October.

Students who nominate candidates for the award will be invited to participate in this event. The teaching award consists of a scholarship, to provide opportunity for further professional development in teaching.

Nominations of candidates and justifications must be received by 18 September 2017. Incomplete nominations or nominations received after 18 September will not be considered. The names of the nominated candidates will be published on the university website.
