Malmö University was founded in 1998 and is currently with approximately 23.000 students the eighth largest university in Sweden. The majority of degree programmes focus on professional careers and the university cooperates with business, government and institutions, especially through multi-disciplinary research. Focus research areas include education, health and welfare, as well as sports science, media, immigration and the environment. Malmö University strives to take greater social responsibility broadening its recruitment base, together with critical study of the knowledge society and the consequences of globalisation.
