Transit Europe: Mobility, Communication and Governance Symposium

Tid: 2016-09-22 15:00 -- 2016-09-23 18:00
Plats: Symposium venue Malmö University, Niagara building, NI:C011

2016 – “the worst year ever from a humanitarian perspective”? Transit Europe: Mobility, Communication and Governance, Ørecomm international conference taking place on 22-23 September 2016, is now open for registration.

2015 became a challenging year as Europe faced a major shift in its steadiness, shattered by the so-called refugee crisis. Even though such countries as Germany and Sweden initially welcomed refugees, gradually they have changed their stance. Ability to quickly respond, adapt and develop efficient policy defines how Europe will look like in a decade from now. Communication for development is needed in Europe more than ever to ensure dialogue, participation and active listening. It is vital for helping both migrants that search for better life in Europe, and EU residents who search for answers how to meet newcomers.

Organized in collaboration with MIM Malmö Institute of Migration, Diversity and Welfare) and SPIDER (Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions), 2016 Ørecomm Symposium has now opened for formal registrations. See the link below.

Keynote speakers of 2016 Ørecomm conference include Thomas Hylland Eriksen (University of Oslo, Norway), Silvio Waisbord(George Washington University, Washington D.C., USA),  Mirca Madianou (Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, UK). Also, during the conference a book launch of a volume Voice & Matter. Communication, Development and the Cultural Return, which encompasses topics discussed at Ørecomm conference in 2014, will take place.
